Brooklyn – Europa Club – 20 April

On the train from JFK with all our gear.

We've been so busy we've hardly slept, but we've got the first three gigs under our belt now.  Everyone has been really terrific and we've enjoyed every minute of it.  We'll try to post some pictures up of every gig so keep checking here.  Hope to see some of you at the gig in Chicago tonight, we're just rolling up to the venue.

The first show of the tour goes off with a bang.

Happy faces at the Europa.

Many thanks to these two nutters and everyone else who came to the gig.

Special thanks to Joanne and Zibby, Lukas and Phil and everyone at the Europa for looking after us.

Steve.

  2. Go for it…looks like you’re having a great time…you certainly deserve it!

  3. The Toronto show was great! Very in the moment.
Good talking with ya outside after the show, and hearing the Clash story first hand. Have a great tour man!
    Cheers, Andy

  4. Brilliant gig!!!! really glad you decided to put this one together. brilliant from start to finish, and not a dud in between. nice choice on the songs. read your book too. laughed my ass off on “Sooty”, gave me an asthma attack. i hope you put on another show in NYC. pissed it’s sold out, but hey i got to see this one. Screw all the people who gave you shit about doing this tour. enjoy and have some fun. i hope you all don’t have to sleep on anymore wooden floors…lol . Gordon

  5. What Clash story? Really really enjoyed to Toronto show. Thanks Steve. Interested in playing Toronto again? i can set that up for you!!!

    • Sal…
Steve was just recalling his first punk show experience…seeing the early Clash etc..and Strummer telling everyone to go start their own band….which he did!

  6. fuck yes…the toronto show was brilliant! thanks again for coming over here steve, and everyone else in the band and involved in getting this going! can’t tell you how awesome it was to see this live! being born in ’84, i have never really expected to be able to see these songs played live, it really meant a lot to me!

  7. Chicago show was alright. A lot of “hurry up and wait.” Kinda wish you folks would have left “How Does It Feel…?” off the playlist. I’m sure a lot of kids asked for it, but how many of them know jack shit about Thatcher anyway? Probably not even a squirt in their fathers’ balls when the Falklands war happened. Song about a war – much like all of them, thereafter – sold to people as some small, necessary thing; but then why listen to no one who wants it stopped? As many wars currently under way – in your country and in mine – damn shame to see you miss an opportunity to point that out or otherwise just strip it from the routine.

And if America’s too thin skinned to hear a bunch of old limeys tell it to them like it is, fuck em. They weren’t listening smart enough in the first place.

  8. A fine way to spend Good Friday. SO WHAT!

  9. My son, Josh Marquis, told me he spent last night jamming at Cheers Lounge in Rapid City SD with you & your band/tour mates last night. Blows my mind!!!! How flippin cool is that, I’m so jealous & happy for him. He lives & breathes music and was telling me how great it was, all the guitars & singers jamming together. Like something you would see in some movie or fantasy but it was real! Thank you for being such gracious musicians to share your time & talent!!!

  10. Thanks for the great show in Montreal Steve. It was amazing to get to hear you sing some of the songs that defined my youth. I’m glad that you finally got up here, and that I had a chance to come at and see you.

I also want to thank you for writing and making these songs in the first place. I think you taught me a great deal about how to be a man in the world. How to think, how to judge, and how to raise my children to be happy and fullfilled people. It might seem strange, but it made a huge difference to me being able to find a way to fit into the world around me.

I hope the rest of the tour goes as well as the show here did. I’m sure there are piles of happy punks across North America right now!
